BASEBALL FALLS TO WESLEYAN, 14-4

HOLYOKE, MA, May 2, 2007 - Elms College junior left fielder Joe Ferry (Palmer, MA) went 1 for 3 with two RBI, but Wesleyan University sophomore pitcher Dusty Mones (Trumbull, CT) allowed just one hit 5.0 innings to help the Cardinals to a 14-4 win over the Blazers in Wednesday night's non-conference baseball game at MacKenzie Stadium.

Mones allowed no runs and struck out six to post his first win of the season for Wesleyan, which snapped a six-game losing streak and improved to 12-21 overall.

Elms College lost its fourth straight and concluded its year 8-21-1 overall.

Sophomore second baseman Drew Dominguez (Braintree, MA) and senior center fielder Rob Coughlin (Saratoga Springs, NY) each went 3 for 5 with three runs scored to pace the Cardinals, who pounded out 18 total hits and jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings.

Ferry delivered a two-run single in the sixth and freshman third baseman Brian Marrero (Kendall Park, NJ) followed with a RBI single to highlight the Blazers' three-run sixth-inning.

Wesleyan concludes its regular season with a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) doubleheader at Trinity on Saturday, May 5. Game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
