Four Baseball Players Named To All-NAC

FOUR BASEBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-NAC TEAM 

CHICOPEE, MA, May 5, 2007 - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) recently announced its 2007 All-NAC baseball team and Elms College had four players named to those teams.

Senior third baseman Nate Hawes (New Hope, MN) and freshman pitcher Sean Bergeron (Chicopee, MA) each earned All-NAC First Team honors. Hawes finished the 2007 season with a .306 batting average and blasted four homeruns and tallied a team-high 26 RBI in 27 games for the Blazers. Bergeron registered a team-high three wins on the mound and struck out a team-high 24 batters in six appearances this season.

Junior catcher Joe Sawa (Chicopee, MA) and junior first baseman Scott Netkovick (South Hadley, MA) each garnered All-NAC Second Team honors. Sawa recorded a .333 batting average and was tied for second in RBI with 11. He also had a stellar .976 fielding percentage, committing only two errors behind the dish for the Blazers in 26 games this season. Netkovick led the team in batting average (.378), slugging percentage (.459) and on base percentage (.489) and posted a solid .939 fielding percentage in 23 games played for the Blazers this season.
