Men’s Basketball and Field Hockey Participate in ‘Rays of Hope Walk’

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Members of the Elms College men’s basketball and field hockey teams recently participated in the ‘Rays of Hope Walk’ which raises money and awareness for breast cancer.

The five mile walk celebrated its 20th anniversary in Springfield and its fifth anniversary in Greenfield, Mass. this year. The event united more than 24,000 men, women and children committed to one cause. Within that dedicated group were hundreds of survivors who are the living, breathing embodiment of our greatest hope.

Since its inception in 1994, Rays of Hope has been helping women and men in the fight against breast cancer by supporting research at the Rays of Hope Center for Breast Cancer Research and also by walking alongside them on their cancer journey. By providing funding for state-of-the-art equipment, breast health programs and outreach, community partners and complementary therapies, Rays of Hope cares for the whole person from diagnosis and beyond.

This is the third year the Elms field hockey team has taken part in this wonderful event.
