NECC Tournament Pairings Announced For Men's And Women's Basketball

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The pairings for the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men’s and women’s basketball tournaments were announced Sunday by the league office.

The Elms College men’s basketball team finished 19-6 overall, 12-2 in NECC action to claim the second seed and a first round bye in this season’s tournament. The Blazers will play the winner of No. 6 Daniel Webster College (9-15, 5-9 NECC) at third-seeded Wheelock College (15-10, 8-6 NECC) on Friday, Feb. 26 at 8:00 p.m. in Leicester, Mass.

Top-seeded Becker College will host the semifinals and championship for the men’s tournament. The Hawks await the winner of No. 5 Lesley University (8-17, 5-9 NECC) at fourth-seeded Southern Vermont College (9-15, 6-8 NECC). That game will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26.

Winner of No. 3/No. 6 vs. No. 2 Elms (19-6, 12-2), 8:00 p.m.

Championship Game • Saturday, February 27 (Hosted by Becker College, Leicester, Mass.) 2:00 p.m.

The Elms College women’s basketball team finished its season 10-15 overall, 9-7 in league play and earned the fourth seed in the tournament. The Blazers will host No. 5 Becker College (8-17, 8-8 NECC) in quarterfinal action on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m.

Daniel Webster College (20-5, 15-1 NECC) secured the top seed in the tournament and will play the winner of Becker and Elms on Friday, Feb. 26 at 6:00 p.m. in Nashua, N.H. Second-seeded Lesley University (15-8, 14-2 NECC) earned a first round bye and will play the winner of No. 6 Newbury College (9-13, 7-9 NECC) at third-ranked Mitchell College (12-11, 12-4 NECC) at 8:00 p.m.
