Cabrera Named as GNAC Rookie of the Week
CHICOPEE, MA - For the week ending on October 8th, first year Samiyah Cabrera (Springfield, MA) was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week!
After a stellar performance in both matches that week no one deserved that selection more than Cabrera. Elms first-year posted a double-double of 19 kills and 24 digs against Westfield State in a non-conference match early in the week. Along with the solid performance she also had three aces and two blocks.
In the second contest of the week the first year started against the Simmons University Sharks where she registered a double-digit kill stat with 12. In the GNAC showing she added 6 digs and a block in the night.
Cabrera has started in all 18 games this season. In just her first year as a Blazer she has registered 200 kills and 155 digs.
The Blazers are back in action this Saturday at Saint Joseph's College of Maine where they will compete against the Monks at 1PM.
