Elms College Athletics is United as One

A message from Elms College Athletic Director Dr. Michael Theulen

What a great day it is to be a BLAZER!

I hope that this note finds you well!  It's not easy having our Blazer Family being separated.  I am writing to let you know how much we all miss having you around us every day and really look forward to your return to continue to represent the very best of Elms College.  Know that even in your absence, you inspire and challenge us every day.  I am truly blessed to have such a dedicated and passionate athletic staff and I know that you feel the same way, too!

Like you, I just received the notification from Dr. Dumay regarding the changes that have been implemented for the remainder of the semester.  This pandemic has been very fluid and concerning to us all.  I want to assure you that your coaches and I have been meeting regularly in planning to continue to deliver you a STUDENT-athlete experience that is second to none.  Even though we are physically separated, we all have much to do in continuing our quest to be the very best.  We will be reaching out to you consistently to gain your feedback and advice in helping to create our path forward.

In our current situation, every day continues to be "Game Day"….24/7, 365.  Being a Blazer means to always strive to do your very best at all times and in all situations.  Your current focuses should be as follows:

  1. Take care of yourself and your family.  Stay healthy by adhering to social distancing, hand washing, and practicing good hygiene.
  2. Stay on pace academically and do your very best.  Continue to strive for academic excellence.
  3. Be a great leader by maintaining contact with your teammates, other Blazer Family members, and the Elms College community.
  4. Reach out to local friends who are looking for a great college and recruit them to come to Elms!
  5. Think about what a privilege it is to be a Blazer and how you can make us even greater.  Feel free to connect with me directly!

I want to take this opportunity to personally thank ALL of our Senior STUDENT-athletes.  Your leadership efforts in the classroom, in your sport, and in the community were outstanding.  A very special shout out to our Spring Sport Seniors.  I know how disappointed you are (as am I) in not being able to complete your last season of competition.  There are no words that I can provide you that will lessen your disappointment.  However, what I want to tell you is how proud I am of you and how well you represent the Blazer ideals that we so often talk about.  You've heard me say that it isn't the adversity that defines us…it is how you RESPOND to adversity that defines us.  We, as Blazers, will always rise to the occasion and make the very best of whatever situation that confronts us.  Know that you all have a very special place in my heart.  As you move forward in your life remember that you will always be a part of the Blazer Family.  If I can assist you in any way (recommendations, advice, etc.), just let me know!

In closing, I assure you that we will be very transparent in getting information to you quickly.  Your coaches will be in constant contact with you as well.  Let's make this a very special journey and not waste an opportunity to become great.  Please continue your awesome work in representing the very best of Elms College!  "Once a Blazer, ALWAYS a Blazer"!

Take care-

Coach T.
