Bonavita '13, Murphy '13 Selected In Elms College Athletics Hall Of Fame Class Of 2018

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Two former Elms College standout student-athletes will join a prestigious club this fall, as Alexandra Bonavita ’13 and Erika Murphy ’13 will be inducted into the Elms College Athletics Hall of Fame on October 12.

Bonavita, a standout goalkeeper for the Blazers from 2009-12, remains one of the top Blazer field hockey players in program history. She was voted as the New England Collegiate Conference Goalkeeper of the Year twice and selected to the All-NECC first-team three times, and her program-record 784 career saves still stands today. Bonavita also accumulated NFHCA DIII All-New England West Region second-team honors and was a five-time NECC Player of the Week.

In two seasons (2010-12) with the Elms women’s basketball program, Murphy did it all on the court. She is among the program’s all-time top 10 in scoring average, field goal percentage, rebounding, steals, blocks, and free throw percentage. Murphy was a 2012 NECC All-Tournament team selection and helped the Blazers reach the 2012 NCAA Tournament. She also earned first-team All-NECC recognition in each of her two seasons with the Blazers.
